Genealogy I & II

ABOUT THE GENEALOGY

This Simon Family Genealogy was initiated in 2005 by Alan and Fred Simon in anticipation of a family reunion held in Omaha, NE in the summer of 2009. At that time, it included approximately 1,000 descendants of Lazar Shames, dating back to 1825. A wealth of Simon family information had been collected previously by Miriam Simon. She generously contributed her database which became the nucleus for that original project. The research of many other family members was also incorporated. Sylvia Nimmo was the genealogist during that period. Deb Righter, Fred Simon’s administrative assistant at Omaha Steaks, helped immeasurably, as did Mary Bernstein, who oversaw planning of the 2009 reunion. In 2010, Judy Weil became the family genealogist, continuing the research with the help of hundreds of family members. The result is a database of over 2,700 individuals. Thanks to the generosity of Alan Simon, we are able to share all of the knowledge and photos we have acquired on this website. We are extremely grateful to all who have helped to make this happen.
